Our Story:
Tour dem Parks started in 2001 when two avid local cyclists organized a summer bike ride through the city. Drawing close to a hundred participants, the ride highlighted some of the hidden green gems that make Baltimore such a unique environment. From tucked-away pocket parks to prominent historical buildings and monuments, areas of our city were revealed that many riders had never explored.
By all counts, that first ride was fun and eye-opening – something special had been set in motion that day.
Enthusiasm for the ride has soared. The number of riders has climbed to 1,200.
Giving back:
Every year, all funds in excess of those needed for the ride are donated to groups working for biking, greening, and parks in Baltimore City. As TDP ridership has grown, so has our ability to give back. We’ve donated nearly a quarter of a million dollars of unrestricted funds to organizations that share similar passions.
Below is a glimpse of some of the contributions we have made to improve our city, not only for riders, but for all Baltimore City residents.
Already, the impact has been huge, but there’s still work to do, and coasting won’t get us there.
Why become a sponsor?
Donations of goods and services, and cooperation from many groups help us keep our overhead low. Because we are an all-volunteer 501(c)(3), with minimal overhead, the gift of funding from sponsors of the Tour goes a long way.
Stand up on the pedals with us and charge the hill!
Beneficiaries:
Just some of our lucky beneficiaries: Audubon, Baltimore City Recreation and Parks, Baltimore Green Map, Baltimore Green Space, Skatepark of Baltimore, Bikemore, Bike Maryland, Baltimore Bike Party, Blue Water Baltimore, Friends of Druid Hill Park, Friends of Patterson Park, Friends of Herring Run Park, Friends of Carroll Park, Friends of Gwynns Falls/Leakin Park, Friends of Maryland Olmsted Parks and Landscapes, Gwynns Falls Trail Council, Velocipede
